Nvidia's Dying Graphics Chips

So what is going to happen to my Dell XPS M1530's Nvidia chip? Is it gonna die as some others are or did I get lucky? Maybe I don't push mine to the limits? At any rate, I'm not excited at the possibility of my computer bricking because Nvidia cut some costs and delivered second-rate hardware. Now the word is surfacing that at least one manufacturer, HP, knew about the issues last year and still continued to sell the chips. I wish someone would have leaked that bit of information to the Internet back then, eh?

For those of you who didn't know, now you know. Doing my own quiet, unnoticed part to spread the word, Dell has released a BIOS upgrade for their systems that sport the GeForce 8400-8700 cards so head to their Drivers & Downloads page to get your fix ASAP before your chip overheats and you're out a computer.

Oh and don't feel too bad for the PC manufactureres because Apple was putting these chips in their flagship Pro model laptops exclusivly and judging by their recent lack of ability to deal with crisis management I suspect they will either not say anything or say that fixing the problem is low on their priority list. I could be wrong though. Maybe they released a fix already?
